Winefest 2014 in Edmonton is back on February 14-15 at the Shaw Conference Centre! If you have never gone, it is definitely worth going. One of the plus factors of Winefest is that you only need to pay once as your ticket is all-inclusive for the wine tastings, hors d'oeuvres, a complimentary Riedel wine glass and a Festival Guide!
There will be over 247 wines from 17 of the most renowned wine regions on attendance. So for example, if you would like to taste the entire line of 19 Crimes like I did than that is a possibility!
This year there is also a free mobile app that Winefest has available so you can make tasting notes and remember all your favourite wines. The event runs Friday to Saturday and with it being Valentine's weekend I'm sure it will be a great event to attend. Take a look at their website for more details.

We love all types of Alsace wines. They are so great especially when they are really, really, cold.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this! Thanks for the opportunity! - Andrew Cao @thatlawyerguy
ReplyDeleteMy favorite wine to share with Chase is the Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. It's the only one he will drink as he is not quite as into wine as I am! We also really enjoy drinking Cupcake prosecco together!
ReplyDeleteSounds great Jen! Yes, you have me hooked on Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc for sure! In fact, I have one in my fridge right now :)
DeleteSounds good Marlow! I like the sound of smooth and creamy and not dry! A champagne for all occasions is nice! That reminds me though, I have a Moet that I need to drink at some point (from our wedding!).
ReplyDeletegreat blog post! it's great to see local bloggers with local prizes!
ReplyDeleteMy default standard is the Antinori - Casasole - Orvieto Classico, a lovely white from Italy that's crisp, refreshing, and only slightly sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove a nice wine that isn't too dry and just a tad sweet. What have you found it pairs best with?
DeleteMy favourite and default go to is the Antinori - Casasole - Orvieto Classico, a lovely Italian white that refreshing, crisp, and only slightly sweet with some citrus tones.... I haven't met a person that doesn't like it!
ReplyDeleteSo neat that you and @Duke robin have the same pick in wines! I definitely need to try this white!
DeleteOur favorite is the organic Cono Sur Cab Sauv !!
ReplyDeleteOrganic wines? Can you tell the difference between them? More of a cleaner taste or??
DeleteI love to share a nice Canadian ice wine
ReplyDeleteI love Canadian ice wines too! Especially like the ice wines from the Niagara on the lake from back home!
DeleteDr. ZenZen's Riesling!
ReplyDeleteOh Dr. zenzen was a recent find for me as well! So good!
DeleteMy fave wine to share with my love is Trapiche Malbec :)
ReplyDeleteYes a nice Malbec is perfect with meals. What do you have with yours?
DeleteIn terms of food? Well, I love to cook!!! I pretty much can drink red wine with anything, but the most recent pairing my boyfriend I enjoyed was this past Friday when we had my sister and her hubby over for dinner. My boyfriend made what I call "El Salvador chicken" - it is basically slow cooked chicken with a special spice from El Salvador, and it has potatoes and some tomato. He also did up a homemade salsa. I made the jasmine rice and the garden salad. And I always make my own salad dressing! I just LOVE Evoolution, and by using different combinations of their olive oils and balsamics, I can always come up with a fresh and tasty dressing!
Delete@missjodieb: The El Salvador chicken sounds good and YES I LOVE the olive oils & balsamic at Evoolution! Do you have a favourite olive oil & balsamic there? Mine is the blackberry ginger balsamic & the chocolate! So so good! The mushroom olive oil is nice as well as the deep rich olive oils. Nothing too grassy tasting :) Did you have any wine with the chicken?
DeleteAny particular wineries that you enjoy?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite wine that I like to enjoy with my girlfriend is the Cline Zinfandel.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for the opportunity to win.
@frank wong: Glad to be given the opportunity to giveaway tickets to Winefest! It is quite the event. A zinfandel is always a good choice.
DeleteWine and gold medals. Yes please.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. I REALLY need to expand my wine horizons! I really love sweeter wines - moscatos. I enjoy Jacob's Creek moscato right now. It is light, sweet and effervescent.
ReplyDeleteThis would be the perfect place to expand your wine horizons across various countries! Plus there's food at this one too! Good luck!
DeleteNormally a fan of white wine but Valentine's Day makes me crave a bottle of Cab Sauv!
ReplyDeleteI love trying new wines and current fave is Kung Fu Girl Riesling, goes well with...everything :) Thanks for the giveway!
